Today is World Health Day, a global health awareness day celebrated to draw worldwide attention to a subject of significant importance to global health, held under World Health Organization (WHO) sponsorship.

So, did you take a walk today, like the couple in the painting?

Today's masterpiece was created by Félix Vallotton, a Swiss and French painter and printmaker associated with the group of artists known as Les Nabis and one of my favorite painters. Vallotton painted all kinds of subjects, but I particularly love his landscapes. His visits to Honfleur played a crucial role in shaping his approach to composite them. In his Normandy studio, he delved deeper into this exploration, simultaneously developing new ways to depict warfare. He translated observations from his diary and quick sketches made during two weeks in June when he traveled through the combat zones of eastern France. The summer of 1917 in Honfleur saw him working on still lifes, nudes, and landscapes, all imbued with a heavy, sometimes melancholic atmosphere—a reflection of the tragic events of the World War happening at the time.

Have a great Monday, everyone!
